BETWEEN THE LINES; How to cut back on telecom costs

In the US there are loads of vendors and services that aim to help companies control their telecom costs by doing things like finding the best deals, consolidating bandwidth, auditing employee use of services and generally just working out where the money goes and how it could be spent better. So it's strange that in Asia Pacific such services, usually known as telecom expense management (TEM) tools, are not more common.
Australian businesses have had some exposure to TEM tools through the likes of Quickcomm, which has worked with the Australian Stock Exchange and Queensland Rail to cut down on costs, but in the rest of the region it's a largely new concept. One company that is ready to tap into the market is US-based Tangoe, which now has an office in Malaysia from which to tackle the region.
